Today i began the mark marking exercise in which I had to make various marks representing different words using various different mediums.
To begin with, i used only pencil and made marks depicting the words; fast, slow, hard, sharp, soft, delicate,bumpy, smooth, sensuous, sad and happy. I experimented using different pencil grades, holding my pencil at different angles and using a different amount of pressure when holding the pencil.
I found some of the words easier to portray with a mark than others; fast, slow, hard and sharp were all very easy as you could simply do with the pencil what the word said. Whilst showing emotions such as happy or sad was slightly harder and i had to try and think outside of the box.
